Stu-Stu-Studio

It's been a minute... so I thought I'd share some outtakes from a shoot I did a couple of months ago with Lance and his homie. We shot at the premier Portland Recording Studio. I was impressed with the set up, the owner and the over all experience.

Rose Bent! Promotional Shoot and Media Design

Rose Bent - The Debut Album: Released December 2010
Band members: J-Kronic, Trinity and Sarah Paidlynn

I met Jacque aka J-Kronic in late 2004. We were both performing at what used to be Conan's, now Hawthorne Theater in Portland, OR. (Back when it was sing song time for me) I remember seeing her across the room, lookin' like a million bucks! I was able to catch her performance and after she got off stage, I approached her and said "J-Kronic! You are too pretty to be lookin so hard on stage!" She giggled and hit me back with her gorgeous smile. After a few more gigs at the same venues together, J hit me up for some background vocals. After finally able to have a good listen to her lyrics, I began to understand the essence of this young woman... and I related. She's driven. Unapologetic. Somewhat of a savage - in the "wow! that's a bad ass woman right there, watch it!" sense. A grinder.

She was in the midst of finishing up an album of her own right as I was starting to realize I could make a living at this photography thing. So, hey Jacque? Want to help me test out my camera? We did a shoot in the freezing Oregon rain in the winter of 06. She was a champ, too. She even allowed the make-up artist to douse her in additional water because apparently, the rain wasn't enough. lol We wanted her wet! The shots turned out so good that I was able to start advertising my newly found career. :)

Since then, J-Kronic and I have shot several times together and she had me shoot and design her solo album "On The Grind" but nothing like a shoot of this calibur for Rose Bent. She was serious. They were serious. We went ahead wit'it. The ladies came ready with professional make-up and their hair styled. They had their fits ready and were energetic, took direction well and basically were a blast to work with. If I remember correctly, it was rather warm in the studio that day but never the less, the pictures came out great.

I had the opportunity to see a live performance for their CD Release party and well, I was super impressed. I've always been woo'd by J-Kronic. Just mesmorized by her stage presence. Taking J-Kronic and adding Trinity and Sarah Paidlynn to the mix was a major play on the board and I can't see anything but success coming from this all female package. I'm a stinker for live performance and these ladies have sold me. I'd buy their CD but hey, they sent me mp3's man. tee hee. Anyway, I have them in heavy rotation on my music player....  Envisioning directing videos for them. lol  !

 So...
Along with the photo shoot for Rose Bent, I also designed a Flash website, 2 Panel CD Jacket Album Artwork with CD Graphics and T-Shirt graphics. Take a gander below and be sure to stop at their website http://www.rosebent.com/ to have a listen to their music and perhaps catch their next show! These ladies bring the rain! lol I mean, they definitely entertain.

Fully equipped with a live band... Don't expect to be bored. Really.

Who That Kid?

That's Blaze' kid!

One young man who is on top of things and ready to break through! He came to me to get mostly the whole shabang done. He had specific ideas and knew exactly what he wanted. We did a photo shoot on location, then a shoot in the studio, then I designed an album cover for him to anticipate the release of his new album "Room & Board". He wanted a high def/cartoon look for the cover. We actually did the shot in a dorm room. It was full of giggly people who were there ready to be background models. There wasn't a lot of space but we worked it out. Good thing I have a wide angle lens! The reviews for this upcoming release are lookin like this is going to be something to cop! I caught a sneak peak and yea... get ready.

I also custom designed a Flash website for Blaze' with all of the essentials. Check it out yourself at http://www.whothatkid.com/
Here's what the face of the site looks like... and the continuous branding I did for his ReverbNation page, YouTube and Twitter pages.

Some of his favorite shots from the shoot are below, too!

So, take a moment to step back and see where this digital age is going. Spend more on your marketing and you'll see results.

Kassidy

Something I've been sitting on for way too long... it has booty marks.

Annie Angell, the Grape Juicy vixen put together the shoot with Kassidy. She recreated a lot of the wardrobe for the shoot, not just styled. Kassidy did makeup and hair. Annie on the brows!

We met at a cemetary in North Portland. For some reason, I had a great idea to drag my boyfriend and 7 year old son along. I just needed someone to hold a reflector. Most of these are natural light shots. Well, it was worth it, despite my child running wild and asking constantly "are you done yet?". In the midst of everything, he managed to knock over a grave stone. Good thing it was only over 100 years old.

A mid-summer shoot... In Oregon, that means it's kinda warm outside and the bugs are abundant. Kassidy was terrorized by mosquitos for a good hour or so. She didn't complain. Just smiled... with all the little bug bites everywhere. Poor thing.

Well... here it is.

Livewire

Some promotional shots I did for Cedric and Livewire with Tabloid and Jove'... including portraits of Neveen from Bad Girls Club. She's a hottie tottie! Love her!

These were a cool group of people to work with. It's nice when clients come to the set, ready to make an impression on the world.

Some of these are unedited... as you can see perhaps I should get my camera cleaned.
